Maggie’s Milk Ministry
A formula for winning hearts among Syrian refugees
Dear Friends,
It was just a couple of years ago that my friend, Maggie (not her real name), a Syrian American, moved to the Middle East to serve the suffering Syrian refugees. She has a degree in education and began teaching in a school for refugee children started by Christians.
Maggie had raised funds to provide shoes for some of the children in the camps who didn’t have shoes for the approaching winter. As Maggie was distributing the shoes, a young woman rushed to her. She looked exhausted, sick and clearly desperate. She said, “I don’t need shoes, clothes, or money. I only need milk to feed my newborn baby!” Maggie told me her heart ached as she looked into this young mother’s distressed eyes. My friend responded, “I am sorry I only have shoes, but here, take this amount of money and buy milk for your baby!”
This was the beginning of Maggie’s outreach to supply formula and vitamins to babies and their mothers. She has now made commitments to supply formula to over 20 babies whose mothers are unable to breastfeed because of the poor nutrition available in the refugee camps.
The Christian Refugees Fund has joined forces to support this important endeavor, and it is already bearing fruit for God’s kingdom. Hallelujah! Maggie recently wrote:
This month, we will be celebrating Mariana’s first birthday. Since our ministry began providing [her family] with help, support and guidance, the mother has since been baptized and the entire family has invited the Lord Jesus Christ into their hearts.
This just makes my heart sing!
I just want you to know that you are making a difference in many lives, and whole families are being impacted as a result!
Thank you for helping to making this ministry possible!
Blessings,
