Send Mary to sewing school!
Mary lives at Anna's Orphanage and has several learning disabilities, creating great difficulties for her at public school. Because of Mary's challenges at school she will be unable to graduate. She is 16 years old and wants to pursue a tailoring trade and would like to attend a sewing training school. Mary needs funds for the supplies, tuition fees, and transportation to and from the school. Total needed: $300. Any size gift will help.
Build a cement walkway around Rhema Orphanage
During Myanmar's rainy season, Rhema Orphanage's yard and pathways to their outdoor kitchen and the road turn into mud. Whenever the children go outside, their feet and legs become covered with it and they bring it back into the orphanage dorm. The director is requesting funding for a cement patio that will surround their building and cement walkways. Total needed: $760. Any size gift will help.
Save Cin San Kim's Eye!
Both of Cin San Kim's parents died of HIV. Sadly, Cin inherited the disease. With an already devastated immune system, one of her eyes caught an infection that has severely impaired her vision in that eye. Doctors want to remove the infected eye and replace it with a glass eye before the infection spreads to her good eye. The director has to take her to India for the surgery. Total needed: $2,370. Any size gift will help.
Provide a keyboard for New Heritage Orphanage!
The kids of New Heritage Orphanage have designed and are selling stickers to raise money for a new keyboard. They were able to sell $375 worth of stickers, but they are in need of more funds if they are to buy the keyboard in time for Christmas. Total needed: $500. Any size gift will help.
Pigs for House Rent!
Newborn Babies Orphanage is currently renting their building. We were paying their rent in the past but this year I asked the director to start a business so that he would be able to generate enough income to pay for their own rent. Recently he sent me an application to start a pig business. By raising pigs they will no longer need outside help to pay rent. Total needed: $950. Any size gift will help.
Provide handicapped orphans with new blankets!
For just $6.75, you can provide a blanket for an orphan at the Handicapped Care Center in Kalaymyo, Myanmar! They need 37 new blankets. Total needed: $250. Any size gift will help.
Provide an orphan with a pillow!
For just $3.75, you can provide a pillow for an orphan at New Heritage Orphanage in Yangon, Myanmar! They need 23 new pillows. Total needed: $87. Any size gift will help.
Provide an orphan's first bed!
One of the smallest orphanages we support, named Bethesda, only has 4 children. All of them have been sleeping on mats on the floor. For just $53.75 you can provide a bed for an orphan who has never slept on a bed in his/her life! Total needed: $215. Any size gift will help.
Provide Plastic Chairs for Orphans
The director of Shalom Orphanage recently wrote to request plastic chairs, as they have no chairs at all. To eat or study, the children's only options are standing or sitting on the floor. Total needed: $160. Any size gift will help.
Send the children at Love and Mercy Shelter to School
Love and Mercy Shelter in Myanmar needs to pay tuition, buy backpacks, and purchase uniforms for their children before the new school year begins. They are currently lacking funds, as those things cost more than what our $20-per-month monthly sponsorship is able to provide due to cost of living increases in Myanmar. Total needed: $660. Any size gift will help.
Purchase a Guitar for Life Concern Orphanage
The daily worship at Life Concern Orphanage is a cappella these days because their old guitar is broken beyond repair. The children are asking for a new guitar. Total needed: $100. Any size gift will help.
Repair Shalom Orphanage's building
Due to substandard cement that was used during construction, one exterior brick and mortar wall of Shalom Orphanage's building collapsed. No one was hurt, but the children sleeping in that part of the house are now exposed to the rain and wind. The rainy season just began in Myanmar so fixing the wall is imperative. Total needed: $1,850. Any size gift will help.
Buy two bicycles for high school students
Few children in Myanmar enjoy the privilege of attending high school. The closest high school to Love in Action Children's Home is very far away, and orphans Nu Nem and Van Bor will have to walk several hours each day to get there. A bicycle would make their trip much faster. One bicycle costs $100. Total needed: $200 ($100 per bike). Any size gift will help.
Provide a new generator for Shalom Children's Home's well
The old generator that provided electricity for Shalom Children's Home's well pump finally bit the dust. Right now they are purchasing water from neighbors. Total cost for a new generator: $350. Any size gift will help.
Provide mosquito nets for Living Hope Orphanage
The children at Living Hope Orphanage in Hmawbi, Myanmar don't have mosquito nets to protect them from malarious mosquitos as they sleep. You can help buy one protective net for only $10 before the rainy season when mosquitos come out in droves. Total needed: $200 ($10 per net). Any size gift will help.
Provide a rice cooker for Emmanuel Orphanage
Emmanuel Orphanage could save a lot of money using an electric rice cooker rather than having to buy wood each month to be able to cook their rice. You can help them save money by helping them buy a rice cooker. Total needed: $180. Any size gift will help.
Provide school fees for 5 Nepali orphans
An education can be a permanent way out of poverty in the developing world. New Hope Orphanage in Nepal is in needs to pay tuition, buy books, and purchase uniforms for their children before the new school season starts and are currently lacking funds, as those things cost more than what our $20-per-month monthly sponsorship is able to provide due to the cost of living in Kathmandu. Total needed: $500 ($100 per child). Any size gift will help.
Provide a water-proof kitchen
Emmanuel Orphanage in Kalaymyo, Myanmar has an old kitchen made of bamboo with a thatched roof. During the rainy season, water seeps in making it frustrating and sometimes impossible to cook. Consequently, some days the children go to school without taking food with them. Out of desperation, the director's wife recently sold her wedding band to help pay for a new kitchen where she can cook for the orphans every day. We'd love to supply the balance needed. Total needed: $2,500. Any size gift will help.
Make Jordan Orphanage more self-sufficient
Pi Rin Tluang, the director of Jordan Orphanage in Myanmar, is requesting a $1,000 loan to purchase three hand looms. With those looms, she and a few of the orphanage workers will be able to weave 8 longyis (Myanmar "skirts") every month, which will result in $600 in profits after the loan is repaid over the space of one year. In order to encourage our orphanage directors to strive for economic self-reliance and to teach them business principles that will help them achieve that goal, we offer them small-business loans. Total needed: $1,000. Any size gift will help.
Provide a new home for Compassion Orphanage
Our orphanage director's wife, Zing Ci, bought a small store to earn enough money to pay the rent of their house where they live with their orphans. Tragically, her husband was involved in an accident and can now barley walk. This makes it very difficult for Zing Ci to care for her husband, the children, and tend to her store. A new home of their own will enable them to raise chickens and pigs to increase their income. Total needed: $3,850. Any size gift will help.
Provide sewing skills for orphans
Mawi, the director's wife of New Heritage Orphanage in Yangon, Myanmar, is an excellent seamstress. She would like to teach her orphan girls this valuable skill so that they will be able to support themselves when they reach adulthood. All she needs is a sewing machine and some supplies. Total needed: $380. Any size gift will help.
Provide money-saving rice cookers
Newborn Babies Orphanage in Yangon, Myanmar, spends about $40 each month on firewood and coal to cook rice for their daily meals. An electric rice cooker costs $180, and it would eliminate their need to buy wood each month. In just five months it would pay for itself. Total needed: $180. Any size gift will help.
Prevent malaria with mosquito nets
While Love and Mercy Shelter has mosquito nets for their children's beds, many of those nets are old and mosquitos are finding the holes. The cost to buy nets for each of the 31 children living at Love and Mercy is only $180. That is less than $6 to protect a child from malaria—the price of a combo meal at McDonald's. A great investment! Total needed: $180 (about $6 per net). Any size gift will help.
