David's thoughts about this song...

One of the first things that change when we are newly born again is our appreciation of God's creation. We wonder how we missed it all our lives. How could we have been so blind to His non-stop "magic show"? Even as I write these words, I'm being dazzled by a display of God's wonderful wisdom and power in my backyard. Bright red cardinals are chasing each other with precise high-speed acrobatic skill. Squirrels are doing their trapeze act, skipping from tree to tree, while chipmunks with racing stripes bound across the green grass. Apple blossoms are falling like snow, laying a fragrant carpet. And this housefly that just landed on my arm is another miniature engineering marvel. How does she do those vertical takeoffs?

There is no doubt about it, God is revealing Himself through His creation, trying to get our attention. It could be said that He is screaming at everyone, but most people just tune Him out because of the hardness of their hearts. Hopefully your eyes have been opened, and will continue to be opened more.

Creator is a worship anthem to our awesome God, a song that snapshots a few samples of His incredible ingenuity and power. I must confess that I marvel even at this song, recognizing a spark of God's creative power at work in me that enabled me to write something that surpasses my own ability. The rhymes came too easily. And I love to think that fireflies corporately applaud God's Milky Way display with their silent blinklings! George Lang added the finishing touch during the recording with his very creative Sax licks.

Fiery leaves on autumn trees, glowing in the sun • In their prime at harvest time, painted every one • Breezes blow, and they let go, on a maiden flight • In the air without a care, they dance with all their might •• Creator! • Builder of mountains and painter of skies • Creator! • Sovereign of seasons and giver of life • Creator! • Displaying to nations Your beauty and might • Open our eyes, Lord • Open our eyes •• Rising late, the moon awakes, to share her borrowed light • Once displayed, she sails her way, across the sky at night • In her wake she leaves a lake of endless stars so bright • It's no surprise that fireflies, signal their delight •• Clinging tight, a blanket of white, covers a mountain peak • Waters flow from the melting snow, cascading down a creek • But little streams have bigger dreams, to soar as ocean spray • And build an arching rainbow, refracting heaven's rays.
