Aliah’s Prayer

Aliah and her family were forced to flee from their home. Isis had invaded Syria and, in the chaos that ensued, thousands of displaced Syrians desperately evacuated to nearby regions, quickly occupying any available shelters as they sought ways to provide for their families. Thankfully, Aliah was able to find a small room to rent where she and her three children could find some sort of refuge. Although unsuitable for a family of four, it was all she could afford.

In the Light of Dae

Dae regained consciousness to find himself lying on the dirty ground. He could feel warm droplets of blood running down from the cuts and bruises that marred his face. Attempting to rise, he winced at the sharp pain that shot through his body. Every breath felt as if someone was driving a spear into his ribs—which, unbeknownst to him, were indeed broken. There continues to be no running water in many areas and sanitation is practically nonexistent as sewage runs freely through the streets. Thousands of homes need to be rebuilt and only 28% of all individuals who were injured during the earthquake received medical treatment.

Saying Goodbye

Many of you who have followed the Leprosy Ministry over the years will recognize the story of Eliah, a precious saint whose inspiring faith won my heart and caused me to first share his story in December of 2014 (click here to read). He has now gone on to be with the Lord but, if you will allow me, I would like to take this opportunity to give his life a final tribute.

Hitting Back at Harvey

Does anyone remember Hurricane Harvey? Irma and Maria have done a good job upstaging him, but for the folks whose lives were turned upside down in the region of Houston, Texas, where the storm deluged some areas—only one month ago—with over 50 inches of rain (Noah would sit up and take notice at that one, I think), the road ahead still looks pretty bleak.
