Jesus Loves The Little Children, Even in the Slums of India

Shamina was born in a slum colony in Northern India, where she was raised in a devout Muslim family who hated Christianity. As a young girl, her mother died and she became orphaned leaving only her grandmother to take her in.

After many years of working as a house maid, and shortly after taking Shamina in, her grandmother fell ill and could not continue to work. Shamina and her grandmother soon had no income and no means to work and as a result they began to starve.

Shamina developed severe stomach pains and illness due to the lack of nutrition in her body. She was very weak and others in the community began to notice how sickly Shamina was. One of her neighbors told our Education Ministry partner in India about Shamina’s situation and soon after they were able to locate her and give her critical medical care and food.

Now, Shamina attends our partners school program where she is receiving an education for the first time. Through her school, Shamina and her grandmother are provided weekly food packages and medical care and most importantly, Shamina is getting the chance to learn about God for the first time!
