I’m pretty sure the “Return to Jesus” sign on the motorcycle above is meant to be a witness—and not an indication of where the rider will soon be headed with that massive load! Such sights are quite familiar in Kenya, as well as in just about every developing country in the world these days. Small, inexpensive motorcycles haul everything you can imagine in such places, empowering small businesses—and the spread of the gospel.
“Tamang.” Mere mention of that name brought fear to many, including the man’s own mother, whom he would often beat violently.
He stood there, frozen and strangely insistent. But he was, after all, just a statue—a massive, imposing figure of Buddha, clad in gold—pointing a long golden finger out over a city far below. "I know that statue, and the city I’m being told to go to," thought Khamh Lian Thang the next day as he relived his vivid dream from the night before. He knew he needed to obey this calling on his life, despite the many people, including his family and friends, whom he knew would be begging him not to go.
The ultimate sacrifice. That's what one of our beloved Burmese national missionaries paid last year in her service to the Lord.
My Indian friend’s words stunned me. “He is like God’s angel to me,” he told me. Could he, I wondered, be talking about the same man who hated him and wanted him dead?
Khin Mar was my friend. Many others counted her as their friend too, especially the many she led to the Lord. I'm happy to report that this dear friend is now with Jesus, our great Friend, and I want to honor her by telling you about how she lived her brief life on this earth.
