North Korean Christians Ministry

Special Issue: 2016 Ministry Directors' Reports

Ben Croft, Persecuted Christians Ministry

Ruled by a maniacal dictator and cut off from the outside world, the citizens of North Korea are continually barraged by state propaganda and brainwashing that teaches them that their leader is a god deserving of their worship. The few who know the truth of the gospel face punishment by labor camp (often leading to death) or execution. It is estimated that 40,000 Christians have been imprisoned or martyred in recent decades because of their faith in Jesus. In addition to brutal persecution, most North Koreans face widespread famine, malnourishment and desperate poverty.

So, is there any hope in changing this darkness? The answer is a resounding YES! Here are just a few ways compassionate partners like you joined in the heroic rescue efforts for the North Korean underground church…

1.) By providing Mrs. Kim, a front-line Heaven’s Family partner, with the resources to covertly bring emergency food, medicine, warm clothes and other critical living supplies to more than 220 North Korean families trapped inside that dark country.

2.) By enabling Mr. and Mrs. Jun to operate a safe house across the border in China for underground church leaders who make the dangerous journey out of North Korea. Guests at the safe house received weeks of intense discipleship, and then are blessed with three months of living supplies—including both physical and spiritual food—to bring to their families and churches back home.

3.) By equipping a secret outreach team to bring hope and the gospel message to North Koreans working in slave-like conditions for their government. These workers are hidden away in remote manual labor sites and under the continual watch of guards. Even with the odds stacked against them, the outreach team was able to infiltrate more than 10 of these work sites to share food, warm clothes, medicine and Christ’s love with hundreds of North Korean men.

Slowly but surely, the light of Jesus is growing inside the Dark Country. Thank you for ensuring North Korean Christians are not forgotten. May His light shine even brighter!
