The Widows & Abandoned Women Fund

Special Issue: India Pictorial

Terry Steward, Widows & Abandoned Women Ministry

A Blessed Buffalo: 70-year-old widow Ananda Suvarthamma, a prayer warrior who lives in Andhra Pradesh, India, wept tears of joy when she received this buffalo which she knew would provide milk for her to drink and sell. As she wept, she said, “In my last days, God has given this kind of mercy to me to be strengthened in Him.” Heaven’s Family offers both small-business grants and loans to Christian widows and abandoned women around the world.

Widow Mary John received 5 goats that soon began multiplying. Selling their milk and offspring helped her provide for both of her children, one of whom is mentally challenged.

After she was rejected by her Muslim family and community for becoming a follower of Christ, we helped widow Ameena Begum open a small shop where she sells Indian “fast foods” such as the fried bajjis in front of her.

30-year-old widow Dhanavath Padma turned from Hinduism to Christ after her husband died. She and her three children were consequently expelled from her extended family. A grant from Heaven’s Family made it possible for her to start selling bananas and other fruit.
