Still living for God at 105!

Simple gifts mean a lot for Guatemalan widows

Dear Family,

“God told me He was going to give me a gift and I didn’t know what it was!” exclaimed 105-year-old Francesca. Her bent-over, fragile frame overflowed with joy, praising her Lord and Savior as I introduced myself on a recent trip to Guatemala. Francesca was one of several women you blessed with new beds and water filters. She was delighted and a delight to behold.

COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions have made life difficult for the poor widows and abandoned women of Guatemala. Many suffer from lack of food and basic medicines. I was privileged to visit with several widows and abandoned women who, because of your help, received immediate relief through water filters, new mattresses, new stoves, minor home repairs, and medicines.

As we followed another sister in the Lord, 79-year-old Josephina, to her backyard where her “kitchen” was, I noticed that she moved unsteadily with a cane. She expressed to us that her knees hurt and prevented her from walking very much. Because of your generosity, she has now received steroid shots for her knees and a new cooking stove!

Throughout Jesus’ earthly ministry, He showed His love for others by blessing and serving the poor, the sick, and the distressed. He told His disciples, “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” Thank you for showering the love of Jesus on the widows and abandoned women of Guatemala! Because of you, they know that God has not forgotten them and that He cares for them.
