Todd and Michelle Matthews have hearts that ache to reach those groups of people in the world who have yet to hear the gospel for the very first time. As missionaries, we’ve worked extensively to reach unreached groups in China and have witnessed some of the very first Christians among these groups. We are so privileged to have been able to lead and disciple many of these first generation Christians. After ministering in China and Asia since 1995, we’ve come into relationship with thousands of pastors and high-level leaders. These relationships have allowed us to encourage, train, support, and dispatch workers to reach the unreached and minister to the poor. Currently we are training pastors, leaders, and business people. Reaching the unreached. We also minister to those with leprosy, and occasionally help provide disaster relief inside China and neighboring countries such as Nepal.
Our focus is to reach the unreached through evangelism. This entails short term trips from our ministry base in the capital city to the mountainous regions of Yunnan Province to preach the gospel and build relationships. When people come to know Christ we immediately begin to disciple them, and provide them with Christian materials and other resources. Then when a handful of new believers is established in a location, we join them together for fellowship. About 80% of unreached peoples are poor—including those afflicted with leprosy, the homeless and victims of natural disaster relief—and we reach out to each of these groups in ways that meet both spiritual and physical needs.
We came into relationship with David and Becky Servant in 1981. David was one of Todd’s first Bible teachers at Ethnos School of the Bible. Since that time David and Todd have remained close friends and coworkers for the gospel. David has visited Todd and Michelle’s work in China multiple times.
