Isaac and Sarah Ministry Fund
I (Isaac) have come from a line of Christian missionaries working in South America. My grandfather was a pilot with JAARS, flying planes for Wycliff Bible Translators in the jungles of Colombia. My father raised me in São Paulo, Brasil, where he was the superintendent of ABBA, an organization targeting at-risk youth and their families in the slums of Brasil. I earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from Wheaton College, where I also met my best friend and wife, Sarah Shepherd.
When Sarah and I began our relationship, we started dreaming about living radical lives like Jesus did—ones that focused on the poor, hurting and marginalized members of society. While at Wheaton, I also participated in the HNGR project, for which I lived and worked in Ndola, Zambia for a semester. While there I encountered many different types of ministry and outreach, but I was especially inspired by a micro-loans project in rural Tanzania. This sustainable, in-depth model for reaching the poor really impacted me.
At the beginning of 2016 I was privileged to join Heaven’s Family’s Microloan Ministry team. My first responsibilities have been developing relationships with our micro-bankers and borrowers in the region of Central and East Africa, continuing Heaven’s Family’s outreach through small loans, spiritual discipleship and business training. Sarah has also joined the Heaven’s Family Micro-Loan Ministry team.
Please pray for Sarah and I as we continue the good work He has started throughout the world, carrying out His will to completion.
