Firefighting Astronaut

What do you want to be when you grow up? is a familiar question to most of us. We often hear (or said) things like a firefighter so I can save lives or an astronaut so I can explore space. (Ask enough children and you'll probably get one that says firefighting astronaut!) Almost always the answers are fanciful, or extend far beyond the likely reach of that child—or so we think.

A Heaven’s Family Holiday

Jubilation is not what you might expect at a leprosy colony, but that is the only word I can use to describe the expression of joy and excitement I witnessed coming from the students we are sponsoring! While I was visiting Frobel's Garden High School in Hyderabad, India, last March they were given a day off from school to celebrate their progress.

It may seem obvious to those of us who've always been blessed with safe drinking water straight from our kitchen faucets, but not all peoples of the world understand that microscopic organisms found in water from lakes and streams can bring sickness and death. Many refuse to believe in such invisible agents until it's proven to them.

Hated to Hero

As Netra Sharma left the prison for a second time, the police gave him permission to stay in their town on 3 conditions: (1) He doesn't preach the gospel; (2) He doesn't use any public well; and (3) He doesn't speak to anyone in public. Netra's crime: preaching the gospel. A police investigation proved that, but the Hindu radicals in Harinchara, India, wanted to silence him—and they controlled the police.
