With a little friend in Rwanda named King David

A Word from David

In January, I traveled with four members of our staff on an eighteen-day ministry trip to East Africa. Joining us were pastor Teryl Hebert and his wife, Diane, from Louisiana. Together, we visited four nations where Heaven’s Family is working: Kenya, Rwanda, D.R. Congo and Burundi. Our team members taught in pastors’ conferences, met with our micro-bankers and their borrowers, checked up on safe water projects, visited widows who have benefited from grants and loans, distributed food, gave bicycles to church planters, and preached the gospel.

We met with so many who are being touched in East Africa because of your compassion. I’d have to write a book to tell you about them all. For this special issue of our monthly magazine, however, I’ve selected one highlight from each country we visited. Your sacrifices on behalf of “the least of these” are resulting in praises rising up to God. To Him, alone, we give the glory, for He has placed His love in us, delivering us from our selfishness. — David

Parting Shot: A Thorn Among Roses

The seven roses in this photo are either widows or IDPs (internally displaced persons) in the D.R. Congo who are benefiting from Heaven’s Family small-business start-up micro-loans. All are believers.
