These three Malawian women, all from dramatically different religious backgrounds, found new life in Jesus through FGW (Farming God’s Way) coupled with DMM (Disciple-Multiplication Ministry). But you will need to keep reading to learn the details…

Today was our first day in Malawi, and we spent most of the day at a gathering that was held at Heaven’s Family’s Farming God’s Way and Disciple-Multiplication Training Center about an hour from the city of Blantyre, Malawi’ second-largest city.

Gathered there were about 160 Malawian believers, all of whom practice Farming God’s Way (FGW) in their villages and communities. Some of them had traveled from as far as 25 miles at their own expense.

80 of them direct “God’s Love Groups,” which are simple house churches, where they not only regularly teach Farming God’s Way agricultural methods, but also lead discussions about passages of Scripture. In those discussions, they follow a format we’ve taught them that focuses on obedience to what they learn as well as sharing what they learn with others, which results in the multiplication of followers of Jesus. And followers are being multiplied.

During our time with those leaders today, we heard multiple testimonies of transformed lives. All were formerly failing at subsistence farming and endured an annual “hunger season.” Now, however, since they’ve applied the principles of Farming God’s Way, they are able to grow more crops than they can consume, so they have some to sell. They have consequently lifted themselves from extreme poverty, and they continue to prosper as they continue to improve their soil and apply advance FGW methods.

We also heard many testimonies from those who have been transformed spiritually. At the top of this blog is a photo of three women who all have come to a living faith in the Lord Jesus from their interaction with Christians in God’s Love Groups. They were drawn when they witnessed the love of the believers working in each other’s fields and caring for one another. When they joined God’s Love Groups to learn how they could increase thier harbests, they heard about the new birth through Jesus. All of them repented and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. One was formerly a Jehovah’s Witness, one was a Muslim, and one was a Roman Catholic. The former-Muslim woman told us that she is accepted in her Muslim community. They know something good has been happening to her! She has started her own God’s Love Group among them!

God is moving in Muslim communities in southern Malawi. Of the 80 God’s Love Groups, 40 are comprised of Muslim-background believers!

Below are a few of my favorite photos from the day along with captions that tell the story. Thanks to everyone who supports Heaven’s Family’s Farming God’s Way Ministry. There is great reason to rejoice! — David

Here is a close-up of the former Muslim woman whom we met today and heard her testimony. She said she had never experienced love like she has from the other members of her God’s Love Group.
At the right is Jerry Jefferson, who directs Heaven’s Family’s Farming God’s Way Ministry. At left is Charles Mittowa, the Malawian leader whom Jerry trained who has subsequently trained others who have trained others. Before farming God’s way, Charles would only harvest only three to five 165-pound bags of corn from his one-and-a-half acre field. This year he harvested 50 bags, and it was a bad year due to drought. The previous year, he harvested 80 bags! This room is where he stores his 50 bags, but he has already given away 10 bags to feed widows and orphans. Charles is Heaven’s Family’s FGW country director in Malawi.
These nine women are all village chiefs (who are voted into their positions, like mayors)! And they all practice and teach Farming God’s Way, plus lead God’s Love Groups. Women Power!

“Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” (Mark 10:14a).

This little guy had apparently never seen a ghost!

Heaven’s Family’s Safe Water Ministry has provided 52 water wells in Malawi, East Africa, over the past few years. This is one that we visited late in the day yesterday when we visited a prospering widow whose life turned around when she started practicing Farming God’s Way. Love this little girl’s smile!
