Rose’s New Home

Rose’s New Home

A house lifts a Ugandan family out of despair

Burt and I returned home with grateful hearts after witnessing the impact of your love during our recent visit to Uganda. We had the privilege of meeting Rose, a woman whose resilience and strength touched us profoundly.

Rose’s story is one of great hardship. Her daughter lost a battle with AIDS following a brutal rape. Rose was left to care for six grandchildren in a structure more fit for farm animals than for human beings. The rusted roof made of corrugated metal, held in place by large rocks, could not keep the torrential downpours out during the rainy season. Rose and the kids spent many a night huddled in a corner, trying to stay dry.

Where 7 people lived and now with the new roof that keeps the rain out!

As we sat with Rose in the home that your donations built in 2020, we realized that it had become more than just bricks and mortar for her; it symbolized renewal and a fresh start. Your compassion transformed the trajectory of Rose’s life, offering a sanctuary free from the shadows that once haunted her.

Rose had a home full of children!

This roof helps keep the rain out!

Your donations are not just financial contributions—they are lifelines that pull individuals and communities out of darkness. Burt and I have seen firsthand the results of your kindness. In this case, Rose’s home stands as a testament to the collective power of compassion and the positive change it can bring.

Rose loved Jesus and trusted Him even when her tears were mingled with the rain that seeped through her rusty roof. Now she gives Him glory as she thanks Him for her new home! Your generosity through the Victims of Sexual Violence Ministry has made a huge difference for Rose, and we are grateful to be a part of her journey toward healing and hope.

With heartfelt thanks,

Burt and Patty,

Directors, Victims of Sexual Violence Ministry
