A Word from David

I must confess that my job often tempts me to question God. What I witness around the world doesn’t always tally with my theology.

I do know that God is good, and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him. I also know that He is holy and just, and that He promises to punish the unrepentant. I’m convinced that He sometimes allows sinners to suffer in hopes of motivating them to repent and escape His eternal wrath. I’m sure that He tests the righteous. All of that helps me to process much of the world’s suffering. Still, I have many questions without answers.

So I cling to what I’m sure of. I’m sure that Jesus suffered and died for everyone. I know that God has given everyone a conscience that convicts us when we do wrong. I believe that God’s kingdom is growing on the earth right now, and one day His kingdom will be the only kingdom. I’m persuaded that Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords. And I know that my job is to obey Him, even though, at present, I “see through a glass darkly.”

Someday we’ll understand. Until then, let’s continue to trust and obey. — David
