It was over 15 years ago that I met the “Lost Boys” of Sudan who had been recently resettled in my city. God used their stories to break my heart for refugees around the world—each of whom has his or her own story of great suffering. Refugees are victims of war or persecution, and have lost their homes, their countries and, many times, members of their family. My heart also weeps for internally displaced persons (IDPs)—people who face similar suffering within the borders of their homeland. Refugees and IDPs are seeking a place of safety and peace to rebuild their lives—a place where their children will have a future.
