Ware Ministry Fund
Our names are J and Becca Ware (the “J” comes from John, and somewhere along the way it just fit, and Becca, as you might have guessed, is for Rebecca). We grew up just down the street from one another, attended the same youth group, and our families, it seems, have always been friends. I always admired Becca growing up because she loved the Lord more than anyone I knew (and, yes, also because I thought she was beautiful!).
Missions has always been in Becca’s blood. She went on three international mission trips in high school and college, and witnessed extreme poverty first hand. From those experiences God’s purpose for her life became clear: to share the gospel of hope with those who have no hope. Towards that end, she majored in social work at Cedarville University, where God continued to mold her Spirit-sensitive heart.
I have always wanted to be a pastor, and later felt a call to youth ministry in the church. Throughout college, I knew God was calling me to ministry, and I spent three summers as a counselor at a Christian camp. Becca and I began dating during that time, and we found opportunities to serve together. The summer before our senior year she agreed to marry me, and I was thrilled. Also at that time my sister and her husband became missionaries to Southeast Asia. They have had a huge impact on me as I’ve watched them follow God across the world. After graduation I began volunteering with the youth group at our church, and that led to a full-time career in youth ministry that lasted the next eleven years—the last five of which were at the Bible Chapel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
In July 2016, Becca and I began to feel a stirring from the Lord. It began as a whisper, and then turned into a command to “Go!” It has been challenging to step out in faith, but we are confident that God is faithful. It’s so exciting to see God calling us to be state-side missionaries with Heaven’s Family to fulfill our dreams of sharing the gospel with those in need, helping meet the pressing needs of the “least of these,” and becoming a link that connects and unites the body of Christ. We feel God has gifted both of us with a passion for this very mission!
I will be serving as a ministry director, with Becca’s eager support at my side. Although her primary attention will be given to raising our five children—Ben, Andy, Jaden, London and Liberty—she will play an increasing role with me as they grow older. We invite you to join us by partnering in this work!
