I came to South Korea to meet with a group of people risking their lives to rescue North Korean Christians. Just a few short hours after landing I was running. Around me, Koreans were pounding the pavement as well, their legs moving as fast as their lungs enabled. We were running hard...for exercise. Thankfully, nobody was chasing.
Nathan narrowly dodged another rock as it whizzed past his head, still perplexed by his hostile reception. It was no time to think, however, but run—his adversaries were picking up more rocks.
Hardcore Muslim. That aptly described "Shaheem," a respected Islamic scholar and imam of a prestigious mosque and college in India. That was, however, before he failed at an assigned task to win back to Islam a convert to Christ. After their long debates, Shaheem the imam became Shaheem the follower of Christ. And so he was baptized—a potential death-sentence for those who turn away from Islam. Through our Persecuted Christians Fund, Heaven's Family helped relocate Shaheem to another country where he could be safe, attend Bible school, and prepare for ministry.

Eli walked home, head and shoulders drooped in despair. The North Korean government, headed by a man-deity whom Eli was lead to believe would always provide, had abandoned him in his time of greatest need. Looking at his military uniform, worn from years of faithful service, Eli wondered if it really had been all for nothing.
To an average American like myself, all 20 of the men in the room looked like members of Afghanistan's infamous Taliban. Some were even wearing turbans. We sat silently on the rug-covered floor, leaning against cold walls, waiting for our meal to be served. I was feeling a little bit uncomfortable, an odd American, likely one of the few Westerners who'd ever ascended the long valley that led to their remote mountain village, 10,000 feet above sea level.
