Blessing
A Blessing. That's the word that keeps coming to my mind when I think about you who have stepped up to help those who've struggled to endure great hardship in 2015 because of natural disasters.
Below are just a few of the many testimonies we receive about lives being impacted and transformed by the Disaster Relief Ministry of Heaven’s Family.
Our jeep alternately groaned and whined as it transported me and my Nepali partners up, up, up into the misty Himalayan foothills northeast of Kathmandu, winding through lush forests and an occasional village. Many of the homes and other buildings we passed looked as they did right after the earthquake—the owners still waiting for the government to help tear down the fragile, half-collapsed remains.
I've been on the ground here in Nepal for over a week now, and would like to report to you some of the ways you've helped earthquake victims. Getting around Nepal has been difficult, as a new, man-made crisis has its grip on the landlocked nation a little smaller than the state of California.
Between the havoc created by earthquakes in Nepal last spring and the terrible flooding over the summer in Myanmar, these past 6 months have kept me very busy. Together, you and I have been able to impact many lives, reminding them that, through it all, God still cares for them. Many hearts have been softened as well, and I'm encouraged to know many have been drawn closer to Jesus as a result of our efforts.
"Like a bomb explosion..." That's the noise that woke Daw Thien Nu, pregnant with her third child, in the middle of the night on August 25th. They had moments to reach safety—somewhere out there in the darkness.
"Daddy, I'm happy that we will have rice in our dinner today." Those were the words of a little boy who lives in a flood-ravaged village in Myanmar after receiving emergency rice from Heaven's Family. And for people who eat rice as the primary staple of every meal, that's tantamount to him saying he's happy to have air to breathe!
