The Corner Shop

The children sitting outside of their little store
This little store is helping to support nine orphans.

Robert’s orphanage, Vision of God Children’s Home, is working hard to become self-sufficient. They have some space right along the street so they opened up a little store. They sell lots of things, from gum to toothbrushes to a few soft drinks. It is kind of like a corner convenience store. Their average profit is about $125 a month ($4.40 a day)—not bad for a backwater town like Kalaymyo in a remote corner of Myanmar.

Hopefully their store will become large enough to provide for all of their needs!

For self-sufficiency,

Elisabeth Walter
Director, Orphan’s Tear division
