Myanmar Trip Day 10 – Creativity at its best!

Dear Friends,

I love New Heritage Orphanage for many reasons, but one in particular is the creativity of their children. The two boys above decided one day to peel a coconut with their bare teeth. They practiced a lot since then, and now they can shuck one in 30 seconds!

They are also talented in another way. They love to sing and are pretty good at it! The children asked their director recently if they could have a keyboard to accompany their singing. He knew they didn’t have enough money to buy one, so he came up with a plan. With the children’s help, they designed the stickers you see in the photo below and sell them for about sixty cents each. They’re saving the profits to buy the keyboard.

The director confessed to me that the children really wanted to have the keyboard before Christmas, but he didn’t think they could sell enough by Christmas Day to purchase it. He said they would probably only have half of the funds they needed. I told him to continue selling the stickers and let me know in a couple weeks how much more they would need for the keyboard.

So keep watching for a Special Project in the coming weeks for New Heritage Orphanage. I even bought six of their stickers to give to the first couple donors!
