A Flood of Love

You helped Basnet receive a new family

Basnet eats the natural food while listening to Jeni’s husband share the spiritual food

Basnet is a 58-year-old rickshaw driver. He makes a very meager living, pedaling people to their destination. Most of his profits go to his vice of choice, alcohol. He rents a room from a family so he doesn’t have to live on the streets, but his life was not always like this

Basnet used to have a wife and children. He loved them very much. But years ago, the Bagmati River flooded and killed his entire family. In his words, he drinks “to dull the pain.” He has never remarried.

At the beginning of January, as Jeni and her husband were witnessing, they met Basnet. After hearing his story, they shared the gospel with him and gave him some food. Basnet was doing witchcraft, but he said he “would think about accepting Christ.” Before leaving, they invited him to their Saturday fellowship, and they prayed with him. Basnet began crying. He said, “You are like my daughter and son. I feel love after many years.”

The following Saturday, Basnet showed up for the fellowship. He sang, danced, and played the tambourine as they worshipped God. Getting to know Jesus brought him new life and new joy.

Though he has no living family members, thanks to your investment in National Missionaries, he has been introduced to the family of God.

Not long after this meeting, Jeni and her husband took some clothes to Basnet. While they were there, Basnet put his faith and trust in Christ. He said, “I will slowly leave the alcohol.” Please continue to pray for him and our team in Nepal as they work to make disciples that reproduce.

Grace and Peace,

Jerry Jefferson
