From Exploitation to Freedom
Htet Zaw’s inspiring journey of rescue and recovery from human trafficking
Dear Family,
Htet Zaw was left alone with just a phone number, holding a worn-out card given to him by a girl from the brothel. He looked at it with hope in his eyes.
He used to work as a supervisor in a garment factory until the civil war in Myanmar left the country in shambles. He soon found himself without a job and no means of supporting himself. His old boss tried to help him by finding him a job as a waiter, but it turned out to be a trap. Htet Zaw was forced into a brothel, where he had to act as a pimp and sell young girls. This was something he had never imagined doing! He lost his freedom, and his heart grew harder each day. His life as an upright citizen of Myanmar was a thing of the past. Until now.
With his phone in hand, Htet Zaw dialed the number and asked for help because he had become very sick. Our partner in Myanmar quickly located him and assisted him in getting to a hospital. They found out that he needed surgery.
Our partner prayed for him, asking the Lord to show him the love of a father. Later, a man named Ko Thi Har met with Htet Zaw and shared his own powerful story of how God had saved him from a life of sin and shame as a brothel owner and gangster.
Htet Zaw was moved to tears and felt a surge of the Holy Spirit, softening his hardened heart. He has now recovered from the surgery and is completely free from the control of the brothel owner.
We want to express our gratitude for your love and support in helping us reach out to men and women trapped in the horrors of human trafficking and slavery. We are overjoyed that Htet Zaw is starting to feel the love and power of God in his life! Your support of the Human Trafficking & Slavery Ministry makes stories like these possible.
You are so appreciated!
