Sarojini Drinks in a New Life

This month marks the 7th anniversary of the end of Sri Lanka's bloody civil war. Drastic numbers of Sri Lankan soldiers perished—as did many of the boys and girls who were forced to fight. Sarojini was one such child soldier. Her peaceful, happy life was ripped from her in 2007 at the age of 17. She simply never returned home from school one day.

A Well Makes Girls Well

All was not well for the girls living at Jaffna Children's Home. Some were developing skin rashes, while others came down with cases of diarrhea and the flu. After some investigation the cause was found: the shallow water table their well drew from had become contaminated.

That's because poor city residents tend to be squatters who pack into small areas of public land and build makeshift homes from whatever scraps of wood, plastic, cardboard and corrugated metal sheets they can find.

Mr. Li Loses His Limp

The disabled, the displaced and the demon possessed—just the kind of people Jesus hung out with—are showing up for a street ministry to the homeless in Kunming, China. And the Food Ministry is there providing nutritious, hot food so that the people will listen to the gospel being preached. In addition to food and the message about Jesus, the team sings praise songs, distributes clothes, and prays personally for those who come.

Safe Water Ministry

Another sick child. Shanthi's heart broke seeing one of her little ones ill once again because of drinking contaminated water, but there were no clean water options. Shanthi was too poor to purchase bottled water or fuel to boil the contaminated water she drew from her village's only supply, water that required her to hike for hours every day.

Floating Noah’s Ark

Sadly, children with disabilities are often neglected, unwanted and abused in many parts of the world, including Uganda. Some parents want to care for their child, but lack the necessary skills or are too poor to do so properly. Victoria Namusisi has been caring for children with special needs, orphans and the unwanted for many years as the founder of Noah's Ark Christian School in Entebbe. She has become Mother to many, loving, nurturing and teaching them to love the Lord and be as successful in life as they can be.
