Anjelina was born in Tanzania. When she discovered she had leprosy, her family instantly rejected her. She traveled all the way to Kenya to get treatment and moved into a leprosy colony there. Because no one would give her a job, she had no option but to beg at the nearest town, which was a 15-mile walk. When the coronavirus pandemic struck and lockdowns were enforced, Anjelina had no one to beg from.

At birth, Javier was very blue and unable to breathe. He remained in a Guatemalan hospital for the first 15 days of his life and was eventually diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

Born with club foot and deformed hands, Margaret started life abandoned at a church in Uganda. Many attempts to track down her parents or relatives were unsuccessful. They simply didn't want her.

A couple years ago, I had the pleasure of being introduced to Ketty Adoc. What astounded me most was her odds-defying, horrific story of survival and perseverance.
